Bon Voyage s03e04
Episode 4 was probably what I was anxiously waiting for since the first airing of Bon Voyage Season 3 primarily because this is the first episode that all 7 of them were together. I’ve watched, and watched a couple times more, the previous seasons of Bon Voyage that I lost count how many times I’ve watched them, and it just doesn’t feel right when one of them is missing. Just like in the first season when RM had to abruptly go back to Korea because he lost his passport on their first stop (Yes, the smartest guy in the group is THAT clumsy. He’s a dangerous guy after all as he said so himself. Okay, the latter was a little out of context. LOL) In this season, V joined them a little later because the day before they took off, his grandfather died. Unfortunately, just when he finally joined the group, Suga had to return to Korea due to family matters (I guess). I remembered when the guys were at the airport and Suga was MIA. It was this incident. I appreciate their company for keeping their private life, well, private.
Anyway, in the previous episodes, they kept mentioning about Taehyung, and that they wished he would hurry up and join them just coz they feel incomplete without him. They would often forget that they were only 6 when they would instinctively reserve for 7 seats instead of 6, or prepare stuff for 7 people` instead of just 6. They’ve been together for so long that they are so used to being together all the time. Jimin even mentioned that they shouldn’t consider it a friendship trip since one of them was not there, and their friendship trip would only start when Taehyung would arrive. Finally, in this episode, V was able to join them, but then Suga had to go home. I didn’t know how to feel about that.
That moment when Taehyung finally joined them in Gozo while they were about to have lunch, I didn’t realize that a smile was already plastered on my face as if I was with them, also anticipating for the arrival of a friend. That always happens though whether I was just watching random videos of them on YouTube, or watching their reality shows. I can’t help it. Their friendship makes me happy. Kookie was the first to ask if his Hyung had arrived. He seemed genuinely happy and excited. That background music though, it killed me! At first there were two women shown in the screen, then Taetae was at the back, approaching in slow motion. It was so exaggeratingly dramatic! LOL! Though he arrived later than the rest, there were still some video clips of him in the airport. I don’t know if it’s just me, but he seemed more attractive than usual. He was glowing. Was it his hair? I can’t point my finger to which part of him made him appear like a character in a Manga coming to life. Okay, I won’t gush over his appearance as I may appear like a superficial teenager. Hobi greeted him with a hug and a kiss on the forehead. The boys were perceptibly cheery when they saw him. Jimin, his co-95z, was seemingly the happiest though. They held hands a couple of times though they were not seated beside each other. They even ended the meal with a hug. I guess he just simply wanted to make sure that his best friend was doing fine.
Okay, let me veer off from the topic first to talk about how much I appreciate Jimin in this particular season of Bon Voyage. I tried to convince myself that Jimin was just trying to pull off a concept, but he’s been pretty consistent. I mean, it’s not that easy to pretend like that almost all of the time, right? So, that really is his personality. He really is kind, thoughtful, considerate, and selfless. There were a lot of occasions on the show where he, although almost unnoticeable, showed small yet kind gestures towards the other members. For instance, when Jin took his eye mask out of the box, Jimin took the box from Jin’s hand to throw it to the trash bin. Then, when Kookie found a receipt and Jimin asked him if he wanted Hyung to take care of it, and when Kookie was tormented by the scorching weather while they were out in the open under the sun, and Jimin guided him, affectionately, towards the shade. Then, in the recent episode, when they needed to pay for the barge fee, he was quick to offer his credit card. And of course, his constant remarks on Taehyung not being there. He was worried the most. The way he excitedly shared that Tae sent a video and hurriedly went back to their house to watch it just made me realize that Tae should be thankful to have Jimin in his life. Jimin is also the type who would not leave any of the members behind. Like when Tae was the only member left to do a shoot. While everyone else decided to go home, Jimin chose to stay behind and wait for Taehyung to finish his shoot, and also when Jin had to walk to their location for a Run BTS episode, he chose to walk with him, and even let him ride on his back. Even the members admitted that Jimin is kind, and they know him in a deeper sense to say that.
So, going back, Suga was bound for the airport, but before he set off, he left his parting messages for each of the members and their fans as well. As expected, Suga is a man of few words. Then, four of them, Hobi, Kookie, Jimin, and RM decided to go scuba diving. Kookie was so cute when they dipped in the cold water. Jin decided to join V in riding the jet ski. Their faces, heavily doused in sunscreen, looked funny to me by the way. They seemed like vampires basking under the blazing sun. V asked Jin to go diving after they would be done with the Jet Ski, but V decided to ditch Jin because he didn’t want to get wet anymore. He even ran away from him, like literally sprinted away from him. Such a kid! Jin went diving alone. His diving stunts were so awkward.
After they were done with scuba diving and jet skiing, they hopped on their cars for their next destination. RM, Kookie, and Jimin stayed in the same car. I thought Tae wanted to stay in the same car with Jimin, but he went with Hobi and Jin instead. Kookie, being a baby that he is, gestured something cute in the camera while they were eating chocolate wafer sticks, and Jimin joined in. In the other car, Hobi, was outwardly in good spirits. He said the atmosphere really was different when V was there. Indeed, I noticed that too, that everything seemed to appear brighter since V arrived and joined them. Maybe that was what he meant when he said that V has the ability to make everyone around him feel good. I loved that moment when V suddenly went out of the car to get something from the staff, and went back with Korean sweets which he bought in Korea and delightfully shared with Hobi and Jin.
In the afternoon, they went horseback riding. V had a horseback riding training when he was filming for Hwarang. Funny how he had martial arts and horseback training, yet he wasn’t able to use them in the filming. V was really good, though. He knows how to command the horse. Hobi and Jin were being in their extra selves again. Kookie had the biggest horse, but being the Golden Maknae, he didn’t need that much training to ride a horse. Taehyung exultantly showed off his horse-riding skills. He even went ahead of the members. That moment when he went far ahead, and the sun appeared like a halo behind him, he exuded such a mystifying kind of radiance. Even the members had to agree. There was just something about him as his silhouette materialized from the distance- it was a different kind of attractiveness. When Kookie stutteringly exclaimed that he was right for saying V is a great joy for the show, I didn’t have any second thoughts about agreeing to him.
When they got home after a tiring day, V had to choose which room he will be staying in. Although there were already some speculations from fans that he would be staying with JK due to his previous twitter posts, it was still exciting to see how he chose the room. I know they were both males, but I reprehensively and lowkey ship them. I don’t know why I felt a tingle when JK gave him clues as to where everyone else was sleeping. Jimin even told him where he was sleeping, yet he still chose JK’s room. The way he teasingly reached for the door, it was another kind of otherworldly cuteness. The show ended of them eating ramen, and Jimin missing his roommate at that time, Suga.
